Norman E. Leach received his OD and MS in
Physiological Optics degrees from the University of Houston College of
Optometry in 1970 and 1972, respectively. He served on the faculty of
the University of Alabama Medical Center School of Optometry from 1972
to 1981 as Chief of Contact Lens Programs and Services. He was in
part-time practice during those years and full-time practice in Texas
from 1981 to 1984. Dr. Leach is certified as a Therapeutic Optometrist
and Glaucoma Specialist and is currently a Clinical Professor at the
University of Houston, College of Optometry. He also serves as the
Director of the Cornea and Contact Lens Service, Director of the Cornea
and Contact Lens Residency Program, Optometry 4 Clinical Course Master,
and Associate Director of the Texas Eye Research and Technology Center (TERTC).
He has published numerous articles and lectured extensively on contact
lenses and related topics. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of
Optometry and a member of the American Optometric Association, the Texas
Optometric Association, the Association of Optometric Contact Lens
Educators, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and
also serves on the board of the Orthokeratology Academy of America.
